FR: Le chanvre est une fibre naturelle résistante qui a une culture écologique ne nécessitant aucun pesticide. Knit the knit est une gamme de coussins revalorisant le chanvre par le tricot. Traditionnellement utilisé pour faire des cordes, le chanvre porte l’image d’un matériau rêche. La structure de la maille permet d’apporter souplesse et confort. Réalisés avec des tricotins XXL, d’énormes fils rembourrés en chanvre ont été tricotés. La rencontre entre la matière et la technique mêle alors souplesse, légèreté et solidité. À travers des tricots de tricots, chaque coussin met en avant une propriété du chanvre, et un possible traitement de surface : teinture naturelle, mélange avec la laine, chanvre blanchi ou brut.
En partenariat avec la région Grand Est, la chaire IDIS et la chanvrière de Troie. En collaboration avec Tianyi Zhou, Laura Huang, Justine le Bars, Gisèle Ntsama, et Anne Claire Noyer.
EN: Hemp is a strong and ecological fiber that was used in the textile field before the rise of the use of cotton. Because of its solidity, it was traditionally used to produce ropes, therefore it carries the image of an uncomfortable material, unsuitable for applications such as clothing or home textiles. This project aimed to show the potential of hemp during an exhibition at Milano design week, revealing its capacities to form a soft and comfortable textile. We chose to focus on knitting using XXL looms since its structure brings elasticity and comfort. Combining this material and technique brings flexibility, lightness and solidity. ‘Knit the knit’ is a range of cushions displaying the potential of hemp and the various ways of working with it: naturally dyed, in combination with linen or with wool or knitted with different patterns.
This project was made as part of Chair Idis, in partnership with La Chanvrière. It was made in collaboration with students Tianyi Zhou, Laura Huang, Justine le Bars, Gisèle Ntsama, and Anne Claire Noyer.
